Bizung School of Music & Dance Logo

Mohammed Alidu, the owner of Bizung School of Music & Dance, is a Ghanaian man from Tamale in the northern region of Ghana. He is a descendant of a long line of talking drum chiefs known as the Bizung that have lived in the area for centuries. In 2010, Mohammed opened a music education school for children in his hometown of Tamale to offer music and dance classes that are rooted in the traditional style of Northern Ghana.

In the spring of 2020, Mohammed hired me to create a logo for him so he can brand the merchandise he makes and sells to earn money for the school. The primary item he sells are handmade talking drums, just like the ones his father and grandfather made.

This logo is inspired by the joy of music and dance, the form of the talking drums, and the Ghanaian flag.
